  • Increased the use of renewable electricity to 62% in 2024.
  • Installed solar panels at our sites in Bury, Oxford, and Cumberland Foreside, generating 820 MW of renewable electricity annually.
  • Set a goal to achieve carbon net zero by 2050 and have reduced our direct emissions by over 20% in the last three years.

  • 54% of our cardboard packaging is from certified sustainable sources.
  • Introduced environmentally friendly products like the sbeadex™ Lightning chemistry for DNA extraction, which simplifies DNA extraction and purification while reducing packaging, transportation emissions, plastic and toxic waste, and energy use.

Social impact

  • Through activities like our Chilli Growing Competition and Christmas Jumper Day, along with corporate donations, this year we raised over £53,000 for our corporate charity partner, Save the Children.
  • Women now represent 32% of the LGC Leadership Team, up from 29% in 2022.

  • Our EcoVadis gold medal, places us among the top 5% of companies assessed for sustainable practices.
  • As part of our commitment to responsible procurement, we assessed over 250 suppliers via third-party sustainability platforms to ensure ethical sourcing.
