Government Chemist Annual Review for 2018 published

The Government Chemist team, hosted at LGC, is delighted to publish its 2018 Annual Review, which provides highlights from the referee cases, advisory work and research carried out during the year.

Last year was a year of change for the Government Chemist function, with the stepping down of Dr Derek Craston after a ten-year tenure as Government Chemist, and the appointment of Dr Julian Braybrook as the new Government Chemist.

This is the first review under Julian’s guidance and, as well as detailing the referee casework, includes a look forward to future challenges, such as “the consumer as analyst”, and provides highlights of the scientific research performed to build capabilities in important areas. It also details the work done to address the need for broader engagement with stakeholders, ultimately ensuring the impact of the Government Chemist work benefits all interested parties.
