Key Highlights
Acquisition of Toronto Research Chemicals
LGC acquired Toronto Research Chemicals (TRC) on 9 August 2019, a leading manufacturer of synthetic organic bio-chemicals which are used as reference standards, research tools and building blocks by a highly diversified global customer base across the pharmaceutical, biotech and applied sectors.
TRC has a leading market position supported by an extensive product portfolio with over 46,000 compounds held in inventory and a wide breadth of synthetic and analytical chemistry capabilities. Its products make a crucial contribution to the drug discovery process as well as quality assurance.
The acquisition of TRC complements LGC’s existing reference standards business, including the MikromolTM and Dr EhrenstorferTM product portfolios, with commercial and operational opportunities to develop the combined product and service offering to customers globally. It also strengthens LGC’s presence in the reference standards market, in particular in the US and in APAC, providing an extended portfolio of research chemicals and reference standards to the pharma and biotech industries as well as applied markets, around the world.
TRC has built a strong reputation as a supplier of choice for customers globally and has a long history of growth, having been founded in 1982 by David and Charles Dime. TRC employs over 375 employees in Toronto and will continue to operate from its existing sites, reporting into the Standards division and working closely with LGC’s other reference standards manufacturing, distribution and commercial teams.
