Authorisation of Feed Additives for Great Britain (GB)

Feed additives are substances which are intentionally added to feed or water to perform a particular function, and are regulated products. As such, under the assimilated Regulation (EC) 1831/2003 they require authorisation by Ministers in England, Wales, and Scotland before they can be placed on the market. This process includes an evaluation of the analytical method(s) and risk assessment. LGC provides key scientific assessment services to support this authorisation process, carrying out evaluation of methods of analysis submitted for approval to evaluate their fitness for use for official control purposes.

Applications for authorisation of a Feed Additive in GB should be made through the FSA & FSS's Regulated Products Application Service, more information about which can be found here.
